Creating a Safe Space for Anonymous Expression

ReadAndGone exists to give people a place to share thoughts, secrets, and feelings they might not be able to express anywhere else. Anonymity makes that possible, but it also requires trust and respect from everyone who uses the platform.

These guidelines help us maintain a space where people can be honest and vulnerable without fear, while also protecting our community from abuse and harm. When you share a message, you're contributing to something bigger than yourself. Let's keep it positive.

What's Welcome Here

We encourage authentic human expression in all its forms. Here are the types of messages that make ReadAndGone special:

• Confessions and secrets you've never told anyone
• Random thoughts that pop into your head at 3am
• Encouragement and kindness for strangers who might need it
• Gratitude for people, experiences, or moments that changed you
• Life experiences you want to share without judgment
• Questions and curiosities about life, people, and the world
• Creative expression like poetry, observations, or philosophical musings

Whether it's heavy or lighthearted, deeply personal or universally relatable, your honest thoughts have a place here. The beauty of ReadAndGone is that someone, somewhere will read your words and maybe feel a little less alone.

What's Not Allowed

While we value free expression, some content crosses the line and puts our community at risk. Messages containing any of the following will be removed:

Threats of Violence or Harm

This includes threats against yourself or others, encouragement of self-harm, or content that promotes violence in any form. If you're struggling with thoughts of harming yourself or others, please reach out to a crisis resource:

Harassment or Targeting Specific People

Messages designed to attack, demean, or identify specific individuals (even without naming them directly) are not permitted. This includes doxxing attempts, revenge posts, or messages intended to embarrass or harm someone.

Hate Speech

Content that attacks, demeans, or incites violence against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited. This includes slurs, dehumanizing language, and calls for exclusion or discrimination.

Illegal Content

Don't post anything that violates the law. This includes solicitation of illegal activities, sharing of illegal materials, or encouraging others to break the law.

Spam or Advertising

ReadAndGone is not a marketing platform. Messages promoting products, services, websites, or businesses will be removed. This is a space for human connection, not commerce.

Content That Sexualizes Minors

Absolutely zero tolerance. Any content involving minors in a sexual context will be immediately removed and reported to authorities.

Personal Information

Don't share anyone's personal information, including your own. This includes full names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, or social media handles. Protect your anonymity and respect others' privacy.

How We Handle Violations

We take community safety seriously and use a combination of automated filters and human review to maintain a safe environment:

• Automated Content Filtering: We use automated systems to detect and block harmful content, including hate speech, spam, and other policy violations, before messages enter the pool.
• Human Review: Reported content is reviewed by our team to ensure accurate enforcement of these guidelines.
• Immediate Removal: Messages that violate these guidelines may be removed without notice.
• Access Restrictions: For repeat violations or serious abuse, we may implement IP-based restrictions to prevent further misuse of the platform.

We understand that anonymous platforms walk a fine line. We want to preserve your freedom to express difficult or unpopular thoughts, but we also need to protect the community from genuine harm. When making moderation decisions, we err on the side of keeping the space safe and welcoming for everyone.

Reporting Content

If you encounter a message that concerns you or violates these guidelines, please contact us with as much detail as you can provide. While we can't review every message before it's posted, we investigate all reports and take appropriate action.

We especially want to hear about content that threatens safety, targets individuals, or makes the platform feel unsafe. Your reports help us maintain a healthy community.

A Note About Privacy and Legal Obligations

We're committed to protecting your anonymity, as outlined in our Privacy Policy. However, if we receive credible threats of imminent harm or are legally required to do so, we may report concerning content to the appropriate authorities.

This isn't about policing your thoughts or secrets. It's about ensuring that ReadAndGone doesn't become a place where people plan or encourage real-world harm. We want you to feel free to be vulnerable and honest, but that freedom comes with the responsibility not to hurt others.
